Little Sadie is a traditional American folk ballad. It was first recorded in 1929 by Clarence Ashley. It was later recorded by Woody Guthrie, DocWatson, Johnny Cash and countless others. There are two versions of this song on Dylan’s Self Portrait album: a straightforward version and a radically reworked version titled “In Search of Little Sadie”.

“Little Sadie was one of the first songs I played with my dad when I started to learn music. It had always been my intention to bring it to the band, and I’m so glad it made it on to the cd. We went through many drafts and arrangements before we settled on a finished product, and I’m really pleased with the way it turned out!” – Megan January
