Graphic Design

Julia Boorinakis Harper is a graphic artist, multi-media maker, and sometimes musician. Her design work is a hybrid of the analogue and digital, drawing material and influence from nature and the tangible world. She collaborates internationally with artists, musicians, and creatively-minded people on record album art, website design, photography, interactive art installation, audio and video production, and rather a lot of other things as well.

Julia completed her BA at UC Davis in Technocultural Studies (the fertile intersection of media technology, art, and culture). While at Davis, a fateful encounter with a Buchla 200e modular synthesizer reignited her interest in electronic experimentation and sound design. A lifelong student of photography and the graphic arts, in recent years she has gravitated toward digital video as a medium for exploring the intersection of sound and vision. Analog yin to the digital yang comes from wandering outdoors, beekeeping, singing with partner Anton Barbeau, and tending her family’s fourth-generation fruit ranch.
